What is Online Psychotherapy?
Online psychotherapy & counselling is applied whenever physical conditions are not appropriate to meet in the same room face-to-face. Two situations may lead to online psychotherapy & counselling. First, an ongoing face to face psychotherapy process may come to an end as a result of one party moving to another city or country. In this case, psychotherapy process would maintain online as there is an established psychotherapeutic relationship.
Secondly, the psychotherapy may begin online from the beginning when the client and the psychotherapist live in different cities or countries. However, the possibilities of face to face sessions in a psychotherapeutic setting could be evaluated when it is possible.
Initial sessions are for to evaluate whether online psychotherapy & counselling is appropriate and applicable.
The Frame of Online Psychotherapy & Counselling
Online sessions are applied through internet mediums such as Skype where to see and hear each other is possible. Online sessions are applied as face to face sessions: They start in the determined hour and finish at the determined minute. Sessions are applied as they are determined beforehand such as once, twice or three times a week in the determined day or days. The client is responsible for arranging a suitable place by considering confidentiality and stability. Psychotherapist is also responsible to maintain the conditions of face-to-face sessions as much as possible.
